FCFT offers weekly stage acting classes

Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre, Inc. will begin offering weekly acting classes in many theatrical areas this fall at the FCFT Warehouse at 177 Fulton Court in Peachtree City. Classes are taught by FCFT professional staff and are designed to teach the basics and more advanced techniques of stage acting and vocal performance.

The first class offered is "Introduction to Stage Acting" and will run Monday nights through the month of October. Ages 8 to 10 years will attend from 5 to 6 p.m. and ages 11 to 15 years will attend from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. each night. The fee for this class is $100. This class is a basic introduction to the magic of stage acting. Students will learn basic staging techniques from blocking and stage position to vocal projection/diction and creating a character. This is a wonderful first time class for the aspiring actor.

The second offering is "Creative Movement and Theatrical Play" and is designed for the younger performers, those ages 5 to 7 years. This class will run Saturdays in October from 2-3 p.m. each day. The fee for this class is $80. This is a fun and creative class for the youngest of actors. The class will explore creative movement by becoming animals, instruments and playing fun creative games. Class will also take part in acting out several stories and learn simple stage techniques as they gain self-confidence.

The third offering is a more advanced class entitled "Advanced Scene Study and Monologues" and runs Tuesdays, November 14,-28 and December 12 and 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This class is for ages 10 to 15 years with some stage experience. The fee for this class is $125. Students will explore the more advances techniques of creating a character / scene and presenting a monologue. The class will conclude with a presentation of scenes and monologues to an invited audience on December 19 at 7:30 p.m. 

The final class offering this fall is "Voice for the Actor" running Saturdays, November 18 and 25 and December 9 and 16. Ages 8 to 10 will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and ages 11 to 16 will meet from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The fee for this class is $160. The students will learn basic vocal techniques for both speaking and singing onstage. The class will cover breathing, diction, projection, pitch, range, creating a character vocally and much more. It will be taught by both the FCFT artistic director and music director.
