• Air Force Airman Jason S. Ali-Talha has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Larbi and Laura Ali-Talha of Fayetteville, Ga. and a 2003 graduate of Lovejoy High School.

• Lance Gauntt was recently elected president of the Board of Directors for Promise Place, the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence that serves the Griffin Judicial District. Over 1,200 men, women and children are served by this non-profit each year. "Promise Place is a much needed organization in our community which provides a vast array of services to victims and their children at no charge. I am honored to be elected to this position to help the growing number of victims of this crime," Gauntt stated. For more information on Promise Place call 770-460-1604.

Smith is the son of Dan Smith of Fayetteville, Ga. and a 2003 graduate of Landmark Christian School, Fairburn, Ga.
