A Peachtree City man has been appointed to the Energy Policy Council created by Ga. Gov. Sonny Perdue.

One of the 18 members is Oscar C. Harper IV, 41, who is the vice president of resource planning and nuclear development for Georgia Power. Harper is responsible for economic evaluations of demand side programs, forecasting energy load growth and acquiring resources to meet current and future energy needs.

Previously Harper worked for Georgia Power in marketing, power delivery, competitive generation and regulatory affairs.

The council is charged with preparing a report outlining the most important near-term and future policy action items identified in the state’s “Energy Strategy” which will also be developed by the energy council in conjunction with the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority.
