Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” Caldwell Hamil

Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” Caldwell Hamil, 83, Palmetto, died Aug. 22, 2006. She was born Jan. 1, 1923 in Union Springs, Ala. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Corley, and a brother, Jimmy “Son” Caldwell Jr. She was graduated from Campbell High School in 1939 and from Mercer University in 1942. She completed graduate work at Southern Baptist Seminary and received her PhD at the University of Georgia. She career in education led to 40 years with Fulton County Schools. In retirement she and her husband served as volunteers teaching missionaries through numerous trips to Africa, Russia, and China. She was an active member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. She was very knowledgeable about the Bible and used her teaching skills to serve the Lord throughout her life. Services were at the Flat Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Bobby F. Hamil, Palmetto; a daughter-in-law, Ann Corley; a grandson, Glenn and Joan Corley; a granddaughter, Kim and Chris Pulliam; great-grandchildren, Kelley and Greg Pulliam. Memorial donations may be made to The Evangelistic Association of Russia, T.E.A.R., 4705 Pinecrest Drive, Acworth, Ga. 30101. Parrott Funeral Home was in charge.
