Run Fit Sports holding clinic on ultra-runningThu, 08/24/2006 - 12:50pm

Run Fit Sports in Peachtree City will welcome Peachtree City resident Scott Ludwig, his training partner Al Barker and Paula May, his crew chief during the 2003 Badwater Ultramarathon, to a clinic on ultra-running on Saturday, Aug. 26. The Badwater Ultramarathon is open to 90 of the world’s toughest athletes. The race stretches 135 miles from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, Calif. Temperatures can reach up to 130 degrees during the race, which starts 280 feet below sea level and finishes 8,360 feet above sea level. His crew, which included Barker and May, also included May’s husband, Eric Huguelet, Gary Griffin, an ultrarunner from Tallahassee, Fla. and Scott’s son, Josh. Ludwig and Barker both ran in the Western States 100 and all three will speak about training for a race like this, the proper nutrition during training and running of a race of this magnitude and running the race itself. Barker will also discuss the medical benefits of running long distances. The clinic lasts from 5-7 p.m. and there is limited seatin g available. Phone 678-364-9200.
