Fayetteville’s McDonough Road Baptist Church has teamed with Angel Food Ministries to provide store quality food items to families of Fayette County at considerable cost savings. The church will begin taking orders on or about Aug. 25 for delivery on Sept. 23. Approximately $65-$90 worth of groceries can be purchased for $25 per box. Each box will feed a family of four for about a week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The box consists of various frozen meat items, fresh produce, bakery items, eggs and staple products. Each month’s menu is different from the previous month. Persons desiring to see a sample monthly menu can go on-line to www.angelfoodministries.com and highlight monthly menu. Also offered are specialty (bonus) boxes such as steaks, chicken, and pork that can be purchased in addition to the regular boxes. There is no limit to the number of units or bonus foods an individual can purchase, and there are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system. Distribution will be made at the church on the date provided at time the order was placed. Recipients will be required to bring a large cardboard box, laundry basket, etc. for transporting the food home. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. The program started in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Ga., and has grown to serve thousands of families every month across 17 states. “Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order,” a spokesperson said. “This is a food ministry with a servant’s heart.” Families desiring to place orders can call Pam Zink, 770-460-1060, Barbara Nolte, 770-460-1664, or the church office, 770-460-5423. Those who need more information or who have questions about the overall program may call Hershel Trawick, 770-946-7330, or fax, 770-946-7336. login to post comments |
