Fayetteville police are investigating an early morning shooting that damaged two homes in a residential area off North Jeff Davis Drive Saturday, Aug. 12. No one was hurt, and police said they don’t know what may have sparked the incident.

Although the shots were heard around 2 a.m., police weren’t called to the scene until later in the morning, said Lt. Beverly Trainor of the Fayetteville Police Department.

Residents reported hearing the gunshots and then hearing a loud vehicle drive away, police said. A detective is working the case, and a bullet was recovered from a garage door on one of the homes that was struck, Trainor said. One other bullet was recovered from a front porch.

Six 9mm shell casings were also found on the scene. One of the damaged homes was on Fenwyck Commons and the other was Carriage Chase Drive.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 770-461-4441.
