Kids need to be exposed to varying kinds of teachers

I work as a tutor for Club Z. As I was leaving Peeples Elementary last week, after working with one of my kids, I walked past two women and overheard one mother making two statements. She said, ”So you don’t like your teacher. Neither do I.”
Anyone ever wonder why people either avoid being a teacher or leave the profession after a short time? There is the reason: parents who want to control every aspect of their babies’ lives. It is, most definitely, a thankless occupation.
If you parents think you know what is best for your baby, you should home-school your children. I taught my children at home up to high school, but for different reasons, and thoroughly enjoyed all the time I got to spend with my kids. Most people I have talked with, though, do not think they could spend all day with their own kids. It is a choice that takes much forethought.
I also taught in my own classroom for years and learned one thing for sure: you are never going to make everyone happy, so you just do what you know is best and persevere.
The best example of this was at my first parent/teacher conference. I had two parents complain about homework. One said there was too much and one said that there was not enough. There you go.
Unless you have some education in teaching or some experience in a classroom, you need to be very careful about sharing uneducated opinions. These teachers have developed their teaching philosophies from myriad sources: books, other teachers, experience, personal beliefs, etc.
The bottom line is that being exposed to different kinds of teachers is very beneficial. Your children will need to be able to adjust to all kinds of people as they grow up and become adults without the benefit of their parents controlling their lives. Keep that in mind.
