Three Fayette elementary schools have been named National Citizenship Champions in the KC3 Citizenship in Motion Awards competition.

East Fayette, Kedron and North Fayette were selected from schools that advanced to the finalist level and earned the highest scores on the case study phase combined with the highest performance scores.

National winners will be honored in Atlanta on September 21 at the National Museum of Patriotism. The names of the national champions will appear in lights as a permanent part of the museum’s KC3 Citizenship Exhibit.

The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding performance and achievement in positive citizenship using the KC3 Positive Label Certification Program as a benchmark. The program is aimed at building positive character traits and bullying preemption by teaching children the power of words and tolerance.

“The achievement level is outstanding. Every winning school team exceeded all program goals and earned outstanding partnership scores,” says Nick Snider, president of the National Museum of Patriotism and KC3 Citizenship in Motion award program founder.

Schools receiving the national championship recognition decreased name-calling by 10 percent and increased kind words and cooperation by 10 percent as measured in pre and post independent program surveys.
