Delta Oil Donation

Delta Air Lines employees have created a unique way to support the needs of the children who live on campus at Christian City while doing something that is good for the environment as well. For the second year in a row a group of volunteers at Delta Air Lines collected used oil and anti-freeze from area Atlanta based employees to be sold to the Universal Environmental company in Peachtree City. Universal Environmental then recycles and refines the oils for other uses. According to Paul Huber, Manager for Waste Programs at Delta and Chair of the committee for this annual event, over 1,200 gallons of oil were collected this year. "This was approximately 400 more gallons than we collected last year! The event was a huge success with great participation including fourteen volunteers who helped log in the liquids, pour off the products and get them ready to sell. Additionally, we solicited used clothing and household items to be donated to the Graceland Thrift Store on Christian City's campus. We know that the thrift store donations will help raise money for the children's educational needs and we want to be a part of that", Mr. Huber stated. Delta Air Lines employees have been supporting the Home for Children for over 24 years. Christian City is a nonprofit, nondenominational orgainization located in Union City which cares for abandoned and abused children in a residential setting. They also serve seniors, the aged and the infirm, including alzheimers and hospice patients. Community support in the form of volunteers and donations are always appreciated.
