Citizens of Fayette County and extreme South Fulton County, I write to you today as an extremely concerned Fayette County resident, and one who is informed.
My name is Cathy Strong. And I am serving on the South Fulton/Fayette Community Task Force. We are the small group of private citizens that have become a strong catalyst in representing the best interests of the people when their government is failing them deplorably.
On our board we have a chemist, a biologist, two accountants, industrial insurance specialist, a homeopathic doctor who happens to be an MD, and others who are dedicated to closing the [PSC private waste-treatment] plant [south of Fairburn]. We are working tirelessly in hopes that we can save our community.
There is a strong possibility that we have been and are continuing to be poisoned by emissions from the PSC plant that is still operating on Ga. Highway 92 in Fairburn. You do not have to smell onions to have incredible contamination in your air and water and soil.
All residents must take immediate defensive action in order to avoid, or minimize any exposure to the pesticide chemical concentrations that seem to be present in our immediate atmosphere. Something about an ounce of prevention ... it’s a big ounce, but, suck it up.
Listen up: Remember the Emergency Broadcast System? It’s not there anymore. Pay attention, and follow instructions. We can minimize the health damages, if we try.
Do not drink your tap water if you live in Fayette County and are being provided water via the Whitewater Creek. Drink and cook with distilled or spring water. Shower every other day instead of every day.
Very deep wells are probably safe. Folks with very deep wells should allow those without to fill gallon jugs from their wells (within reason).
Seal your homes. Clean your air filters with a heavy baking soda solution, or change them weekly or biweekly.
Spend as little time outside as possible.
Begin a detoxification of your body and continue until it has been proved that the air and water are safe. Consult Web sites like www.WholeFoods.com and www.Sevenanda.com.
Because, think about it, it doesn’t matter what is poisoning your body; get it out.
Please trust that we are doing all we can to get the plant closed and to get medical attention to those who need it and cannot afford it or do not yet realize that they need it (believe me, you are out there). There will be a Web site available where more immediate information can be disseminated. Continue to read your Fayette Citizen for all new information. This is so much more serious than you would expect.
