Roy Vreeland, CIC, of Reese Insurance Associates, Inc., in partnership with Westfield Insurance, recently awarded a Westfield Agents Association Trustee Scholarship to Lauren Escalante of Fayetteville.

The scholarship program, sponsored by Westfield Insurance, allows each member of the Westfield Agents Association board of trustees to award a scholarship to a qualified student or organization in their community. Trustees choose scholarship recipients in recognition of achievement in academics, leadership, and personal development.

Lauren Escalante graduated from the Fayette County Evening School in May. She evacuated from south Florida this past fall where she had lived and attended school, and she and her family moved into her grandmother’s house in Fayette County. Escalante was an honors student at her Florida high school but because of the time of her forced evacuation, she could not receive the credits from the courses she was taking in Florida. She enrolled in the Evening High School in January so that she could receive the credits needed for graduation. Faced with the adversities of a sudden relocation and the set back of losing credits from partially completed classes, Escalante persevered and excelled in school. She will attend Clayton State College this fall.
