Tonights football gamesFri, 10/14/2005 - 10:26pm

The McIntosh Chiefs looked good on offense a few weeks ago but things have slowed down in the past few weeks. Their defense on the other hand has had a strong season and held one of the states best offenses, Creekside, to only 14 points last week. It was the fewest number of points the Seminoles had scored all year. McIntosh needs to get their offense going though and, most importantly, needs to eliminate costly mistakes. Woodward Academy got shut out last week by Sandy Creek, allowing four different runners to score and numerous players to touch the ball. It was the firs time they were shutout all year but they have only amassed a total of 77 points in seven games. They have some size and speed and will present a challenge for the Chiefs but a good game on both sides of the ball could lead to a win. Fayette County (2-6) vs. Mundys Mill (4-3) The Tigers were hoping for bigger things last week against East Coweta, especially coming off of a dominating performance over Lovejoy, but the Indians shut Fayette County down and kept them off the scoreboard. They should be extra determined to play well this week, especially in front of a home crowd. To beat the Tigers of Mundys Mill, Fayette needs to slow down, Errol Wynn, who had an impressive night in Mundys Mills upset victory over Starrs Mill. If the defense steps back up and the offense gets its legs under them qucikly, Fayette County can pick up another region win. Sandy Creek (6-1) vs. Haralson County (4-3) The Patriots looked impressive as they shutout the Woodward Academy War Eagles on the road last week. The team had a great night on offense and defense and the special teams were particularly sharp, especially whn one considers the sloppy conditions due to inclement weather. Sandy Creek hopes to continue their winning streak at home this week when they take on what should be a very motivated Haralson team. Haralson County can make the playoffs if they win out and with one of the top defenders in the nation, they will be trying everything to slow down the Patriots and keep their playoff hopes alive. Whitewater (7-0) vs. Alpharetta (3-4) The Wildcats will play their final home game of the season tonight and they are getting very close to completing an undefeated season in their fnal season of playing a non-region schedule. The team bounced back from a halftime deficit to hand Athens Academy a loss last week and are hoping to lead this one from start to finish. The team has a very potent offense and defense and should be able to slow down a Raider team that is averaging 15 points per game in their wins. Alpharetta has won two games in a row. They defeated temple 21-14 and handed Mill Creek, Whitewaters next opponent, a 10-6 loss last week. Our Lady of Mercy (0-8) vs. Eagles Landing Christian Academy (5-2) The Bobcats have been close to picking up a win at times this season but last weeks game against Landmark wasnt very close. The War Eagles ran for over 300 yards and five touchdowns against Our Lady of Mercy and while the Landmark air attack was grounded, their offense scored 33 points, while the defense held the Bobcats to six points. The Eagles Landing Christian Academy football teams two losses have come against Bremen, 28-7, and North Oconee, 27-20. The Chargers are averaging 17 points per game in their wins though, meaning they arent blowing anybody out. Last week, they defeated Whitfield Academy, which defeated Our Lady of Mercy in overtime, 8-0. The Bobcats need to play this game like the Whitefield game, getting their offense going and refusing to give up the big plays that have plagued them this year. login to post comments |
