Capt. Pete Nelms of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services has been designated a Certified Emergency Manager by the International Association of Emergency Managers. This was the result of about two years of work to meet the association’s standards, noted Chief Jack Krakeel. Among those standards was the publication of materials, contributions to the profession, Krakeel said. Nelms, who is the county’s emergency management coordinator, joins 565 other such certified emergency managers in the entire world, which makes it an exclusive group, officials said. “It’s an honor to have him on my staff and I think he’s a tremendous asset to Fayette County,” Krakeel said. During the award presentation, County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn thanked Nelms for putting in countless extra hours to perform his duties. “Thank you for your expertise and your commitment to work 24 hours a day,” Dunn said. login to post comments |
