New professional theatre holds auditions

The Legacy Theatre, a new, full-time professional theatre, is holding open auditions for non-equity performers its 2006-07 mainstage and children’s seasons. The theatre is looking for all ethnicities and age groups. Mainstage shows include:

• “The Christmas Survival Guide,” Nov. 24-Dec 17: 2 men and 3 women with a wide vocal range, familiar with all styles of music, must move well, specifically seeking 1 African-American soprano with gospel belt;

• “Forever Plaid,” Jan. 26-Feb. 18: 4 men, baritone through tenor, must move well, previous productions a plus;

• “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance,” April 13-May 6:  experienced dancers in ballet, modern and jazz. Send resume and headshot only, auditions TBA;

• “The Complete History of America: Abridged,” July 6-29: 3 men with strong improv and musical skills. Weekend performances.
Children’s series shows include:

• “The Year Santa Almost Forgot Christmas,” Dec. 5-15: 2 men and 1 woman, should be comedic actors with singing ability, 3 actors to play elves, singing and tumbling a plus;

• “The Cay,” Feb. 6-16: 1 African-American man to play 70+ years old, all ages considered, West Indian accent, 1 boy to play 11 year old, British accent;

• “Miss Nelson Is Missing!” May 1-11: 1 female for multiple roles, alto-soprano, 1 male for multiple roles, baritone-tenor, 2 boys and 2 girls (can be played by older or younger actors), comedic timing, wide vocal range. 

All performances will be at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday in Tyrone. Prepare 16 bars of two contrasting songs. Actors may be asked to perform a monologue, read or sing from a script.
