Fayette’s first history grant funded by the Teaching American History (TAH) Project has come to an end. Nineteen Fayette County social studies educators finished the three-year grant titled “Linking American History: Past to Present” by studying in Washington, DC in June. The program was a combination of efforts of Fayette, Henry and Cobb County school systems. The TAH grant of $984,115 was awarded in 2003 to study the time period of 1945 to the present with historians and by conducting primary document research at local archives. During the trip to Washington, the teachers visited the National Archives, Smithsonian, Library of Congress, and United States Capitol as well as toured the White House. Fayette, along with Henry and Cobb, has received a second TAH grant for $999,622 to study the colonial era. login to post comments |
