Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Demetria Etier has deployed to the U.S. Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to serve as a member of Joint Task Force-GTMO in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Servicemembers from all branches of the U.S. armed forces are involved in a joint-military operation whose mission is to conduct detention and interrogation operations to collect and exploit intelligence in support of the ongoing Global War on Terrorism.

She is the daughter of Faith Antonia Etier of Molly Sue Lane, Fayetteville, Ga., and niece of Pierre Etier of Meadowcove Circle, Garland, Texas.

The petty officer is a 2002 graduate of Garland High School.
