Offshoot Productions has announced a partnership with Target for sponsorship of the theatre company’s “Fairy Tale Project.” A combination of playwrights and actors will use improvisation techniques to create an original audience participation play for children, to be presented in Tyrone in the winter of 2007 with a subsequent tour of schools, libraries and other venues.

“We are immensely pleased to partner with Target once again,” said Offshoot artistic director Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D. “Target has been a longtime supporter of our programs, especially those involving children. This grant will help us tour areas in which youngsters have little exposure to professional theatre.”

This sponsorship is part of the ongoing support Target provides to local communities throughout the country. Every week Target gives more than $2 million to strengthen families and communities across the nation, with a focus on education, the arts, social services and other vital community partnerships. Additionally, Target also gives back through signature programs that are designed to inspire learning in children and families.

Offshoot Productions, based in Fayette County, is the oldest professional theatre on Atlanta’s southside. The company is known for its productions of Shakespeare, new works and participation plays as well as for its presentation of Stars on the Southern Crescent coffee house.
