Senoia and Castlewood Rds. both widened

When school starts back up on Monday, traffic at Senoia Road and Castlewood Road in Tyrone should move better than it has in the past.

The widening project, which was funded entirely by a special local option sales tax (SPLOST) for transportation, began in July and was promised to be finished before school started. APAC of Tyrone completed the project last weekend and chances are area residents have already noticed an improvement.

The project widened Castlewood Road to provide a right and left turn lane on to Senoia Road and widened Senoia Road to provide a right turn lane on to Castlewood Road. The project was high on the priority list for the town and it went to bids early in May.

“We’re very pleased with how the project came out and we are interested to see the impact once traffic gets heavier next week with the return of school,” said Town Manager Barry Amos, who added that Swanson Road was recently paved at no cost to the taxpayers, as it was a requirement for John Wieland Homes.
