It was meager by the current standards of Union City and Palmetto, but on target for Fairburn during the rush by many South Fulton cities to beat the legislatively-imposed Oct. 30 annexation deadline. Fairburn Planning Commission Aug. 1 voted to recommend rezoning and annexation of approximately 12 acres located on six tracts.

The commission voted to recommend a 2.032-acre tract located at 8100 Creekwood Road with zoning changed from Fulton County AG-1 to Fairburn M-1 Light Industrial. Also recommended was a 6.6-acre on the east side of the city, located at 6226 Vickers Road. The property was recommended for a zoning change from Fulton County AG-1 to Fairburn AG-1 Agricultural. A second nearby property, located at 6222 Vickers Road received approval from commissioners. The .3-acre tract got the same zoning recommendation.

The three remaining tracts considered by commissioners were located along the Highway 74 Corridor. A .533-acre tract on the southwest corner of Landrum Road and Hwy. 74 and a .185-acre tract immediately to the south were rezoned to Fairburn’s C-2 Commercial from Fulton County’s AG-1. Also rezoned and approved for annexation was World of Beverage, located just further south. C-2 zoning is recommended.
