For Peachtree City and Tyrone residents, getting to and from Interstate 85 will be tough this weekend as part of Ga. Highway 74 in Tyrone will be closed.

The closure is needed so the CSX railroad tracks can be repaired, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. Lanes will be blocked in both directions but a detour route will be marked, officials said.
The road closing is planned for Saturday, Aug. 5 and Sunday, Aug. 6 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. both days.

For those going north to the interstate, the official detour will direct motorists right onto Dogwood Trail or Tyrone Road to a left onto Ellison Road and then another left onto Jenkins Road to reach the northern area of Hwy. 74.
