I am enclosing information I received from our Fayetteville DFAS contact, Sharon Herbert regarding how Hurricane Katrina is impacting our local area and what we can do to help.

Tom Cook

We are having families come to us from the devastated areas in the path of Katrina. We had 15 families with children as of this morning. We are preparing a plan to assist them today. Just wanted to give you heads up about this crucial need. These are families with small children and they have absolutely lost everything. They will need food, clothing, and other personal items. We are asking for food store gift cards and Wal-Mart gift cards. If you can rally your groups to provide any of these, that would be very much appreciated. If I am not available, please contact Dee House, 770-460-2579. She is our supervisor and is working directly with these families to get them some help.

As always, thank you for caring about others and your generosity. I will e-mail again by the end of today.

You can e-mail me if you would like with questions or ideas about how to help these families.

I have moved my office recently, and I do not have voice mail. My phone is 770-460-2477. I can take calls if I am sitting at my desk.
