Local developer Brent Scarbrough has been named the new president of the board of directors for Fayette Youth Protection Homes.

Scarbrough, a lifelong Fayette County resident, replaces Don Phillips. Brent Scarbrough and Company has grown from its beginnings in 1985 to employing more than 200 people today.

Likewise, a significant change is afoot at FYPH, where the non-profit is starting up a program to help foster parents. This is new ground for the organization, which historically has cared directly for abused and neglected children who have been ordered away from their homes.

The new program allows FYPH to provide services for the youngest children, even newborns. Currently, the children hosted at the Friday-Johnson home must be between 5 and 17 years old based on the FYPH permit from the state.

“We are looking at ways FYPH can serve even more children in need in this county, and it’s an exciting time for me to come on board as president,” Scarbrough said.

Scarbrough is a member of the Joseph Sams School’s board of directors, the Community Foundation for Fayette County and he was voted the 2006 Business Person of the Year by the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. He lives in Brooks with his wife, Tina and two sons: Hudson, 3, and Landon, 11 months.
