Karen Allen of Coldwell Banker Fulton Realty attended the third annual Chapter Leadership Retreat in Scottsdale, Ariz., Sept. 16-17, hosted by the Council of Residential Specialists.

Some 95 CRS chapter officers, regional vice presidents and national officers nationwide participated in the weekend event, featuring interactive leadership training and role playing, brainstorming and networking sessions designed for attendees to learn new ideas and share their experiences.

Allen has been a Realtor in Fayette County and with Coldwell Banker Fulton Realty Associates since January 1991. She is an Accredited Buyers Representative, a Certified Residential Specialist, a Graduate of the Realtor Institute, a certified Relocation Specialist, an Associate Broker, and has received the At Home With Diversity Certification. She has been an active member of the Fayette County Board of Realtors, a member of the City of Senoia Planning Commission, and a local and State-wide member of the Georgia Chapter of Certified Residential Specialists (CRS). She was installed as the 2006 President for GA Chapter CRS at the Georgia Association of Realtors Convention in September.

The Chapter Leadership Retreat prepares the 2006 CRS chapter officers for the rigors of their leadership positions, while giving them the confidence they need to do the job well. The facilitator was Cynthia D’Amour, the president of People Power Unlimited in Ann Arbor, Mich. Her sessions focused on developing your vision as a leader, motivating other chapter volunteers, transforming volunteers from having duties to feeling ownership and running a dynamic vs. passive meeting
“This was one of the best training sessions I’ve ever attended,” said Allen. “The material is helpful for all areas of my personal and business life.”

The leadership event lays the groundwork for new chapter executives as they get ready to take office. “This year’s participants loved Cynthia D’Amour’s energy and attitude,” said Rachel Tristano, the Council’s director of chapter and regional programs, who organized and managed the 2005 CRS Chapter Leadership Retreat. “Her program motivated them to become better leaders through hands-on, interactive training.”

The Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors® with more than 44,000 members in the United States and international countries, awards the CRS designation to experienced Realtors who have completed advanced professional training.
