Army Spec. Amber K. Irvin has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

The specialist is a production control clerk assigned to the 603rd Aviation Support Battalion, Hunter Army Airfield, Hinesville, Ga.

She is the daughter of Deborah Downey of Peachtree City, Ga. and a 1999 graduate of Jonesboro High School.
