I am a lifelong resident of Toccoa, Stephens County, Ga. I have just read in our local newspaper, The Toccoa Record, what a courteous and generous event took place in Brooks, Ga., this past week.

The Toccoa Little League All-stars were playing in Brooks and one of the Toccoa families lost their home due to a fire while traveling to the Little League tournament.

The Brooks Little League found this out and took up a donation in the amount of $1,300 and donated it to this family.

I have been involved in the Little League program as a player (1966-1971) and recently an umpire, and I am very proud of the program, the volunteers, the families involved and, of course, the kids.

Organizations like this and their hard-working volunteers involved always seem to rise to the occasion when helping their own programs and others, as was shown to this Toccoa family.

I am not sure if this is the correct [place] to send this letter to, but hope it will be passed on to the people of Brooks and the Brooks Little League to let them know that their generosity is greatly appreciated for their help.

Way to go, Brooks Little League.

Jimmy Cook
Toccoa, Ga.
