Scholarships are now available for students interested in attending the University of Georgia Griffin Campus this fall semester and majoring in agribusiness.

The $1,000 scholarships will be awarded based on several criteria, including, but not limited to, financial need, academic achievement and community service.

The UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will begin offering an undergraduate degree in agribusiness on the UGA Griffin Campus this fall. The program is designed to prepared graduates to start their own businesses or work in the fields of finance, marketing or management.

Graduates pursue careers in banking and finance, food and fiber processing, sales and marketing, government, international trade and commodity and produce brokerage.

In addition to the agribusiness program, UGA CAES will continue to offer the undergraduate degrees in biological science and environmental resource science that debuted last fall in Griffin.

These undergraduate programs are upper-division programs open to transfer students or those holding a bachelor's degree and seeking a second degree. Transfer students need to have completed 60 hours of transferable coursework with a minimum grade point average of 2.5.

The deadline for admission is August 1 and undergraduate application forms can be downloaded from the UGA Griffin campus Web www.uga.edu/griffin.

For an agri-business scholarship application, please call Dr. Fred White at 706 542-0764.

Fall classes will begin on Aug. 16 and are scheduled from 8 a.m. until noon on weekdays.
