By: The Citizen
The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Council on Missions will host a community-wide expo for nonprofit organizations Sunday, July 30, from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The event is open to the public and the Family Sunday School Class will provide complimentary coffee, soft drinks, and doughnuts. The expo will focus on the various ministries and missions of the FFUMC church family and of the greater Fayette community. It is open to all Fayette County non-profit organizations and some 35 groups have pre-registered. “As we are located in downtown Fayetteville near the square, the Ministry Expo was a logical opportunity to place the church and community programs before the residents of Fayette County,” said Len Gough, missions lay leader, “and we would like to see this expo become one of the most anticipated events of the church year.” “Many residents are not aware of the variety of services available in Fayette County,” added Laura Cox, program director. “This expo is one way to demonstrate and educate people on the love, care and compassion of our community.” Organizations which have preregistered include: A Great Day of Service, AARP, AdvoKids, CASA, DART, FACTOR, Fayette County Department of Family and Children Services, Fayette Samaritans, Fayette Thrift Shop, Fayette Youth Protection Homes, FFUMC Children’s Music Programs, FFUMC Children’s Programs, FFUMC Music Programs, FFUMC Youth Programs, and Friends of the Fayette Library. Also, Honduras Outreach, International Mission Trips-Costa Rica, Katrina Relief Efforts, LIFE, Inc., missionaries Charlie and Mary Kay Jackson, missionaries Craig and Patsy Kent, missionaries Steve and Karoline Gober, and missionary June Hanks-Haiti. And, Promise Place, Real Life Center, SAGE (FFUMC Senior Adult Programs), Serv Ministries International-Mexico, Southern Crescent Sexual Assault Center, Southside Arts, Southwest Christian Care, Square Foot Ministry, The Mission Society of Methodists-Ghana, and United Methodist Children’s Home. The expo will be open from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., with set-ups beginning at 7:30 a.m. Registration deadline is July 26 and each group MUST complete a registration card available by contacting one of the e-mail addresses below.
