Amanda Lee Cooper and Norman Jarrett Townsend were married Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Savannah Rapids Pavilion in Augusta. The Rev. Chuck Hodges officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert William Cooper of Peachtree City. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Ruth Daniel Byrd of Lexington, Ky., the late Mr. Charles Elmer Rees of Morristown, Tenn., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Roy Cooper of Mobile, Ala. She is a 1996 graduate of McIntosh High School. She received her bachelor of business administration in management information systems from The University of Georgia in 2000 and her master of arts in teaching from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority at UGA and is employed by the Columbia County Board of Education at Stevens Creek Elementary in Augusta as a teacher.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Norman Townsend of Martinez. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ottis Gordon Manning, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Henry Townsend, all of Jesup. He is a 1993 graduate of Lakeside High School in Augusta and received his bachelor of business administration in finance from Augusta State University in 2000. He is the chief financial officer for Masters Cleaners and a realtor for Remax of Augusta.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her sister, Mrs. Kara Cooper Reagin of Peachtree City, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Leslie Rees Korinek of Charlotte, N.C., cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Corby Hopkins Naylor of Enid, Okla., friend of the bride. Flower girl was Allison Brook Reagin of Peachtree City, niece of the bride.

The groom’s brother, James Landry Townsend of Augusta served as best man. Groomsmen were David Austin Hardy of Evans and Seth Harrill Moore of Augusta, both friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Raymond A. Naylor V, of Enid, son of the bride’s friend.

A reception followed the ceremony. The newlyweds honeymooned in Negril, Jamaica, and now reside in Augusta.
