Helen Denton of Fayetteville was honored by the Fayette County chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution in the Peachtree City July 4 parade. Their golf cart sign read, "Fayette-Starr's Mill Chapter honors Helen Denton, WWII Notable Woman of History." Denton served as a secretary to General Eisenhower and typed up the orders for Normandy while stationed in London, England. She met her husband there, and they later returned to Jonesboro and Riverdale to live. She has lived in Fayette County for several years. In November 2004, Denton spoke to the chapter about her experiences in WWII. The Fayette County chapter also honored Helen Denton in March by sponsoring her as Notable Woman of History for Women's History Month. Posters were placed in Fayette County libraries.
