HBA Class guides first-time home buyers through new home processThu, 07/20/2006 - 1:00pm

The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) is offering a free class to educate and guide first-time home buyers through the process of buying or building a new home. The Academy for New Home Buyers class will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the HBA Housing Center. “Our goal is to empower new home buyers with knowledge when they decide to build or buy their home,” says Penelope J. Round, consumer affairs manager for the HBA. The Academy for New Home Buyers program is unique in that it breaks down the barriers to new home ownership in metro Atlanta by making the entire process as easy to understand as possible. In the two-hour class, potential buyers will gain knowledge from industry leaders explaining the builder selection process, contracts, warranties, communicating with your real estate professional and builder and the importance of shopping the market. “People are very interested in buying new homes,” Round adds. “However, they don’t always know where to find information and can feel overwhelmed by the process. This program allows consumers to feel comfortable and confident in their home buying decision. We want all new home buyers to have a positive experience, and this class equips them with the foundation needed to purchase and care for their home.” All Academy attendees will be offered the Homeowner Handbook, a book that gives step-by-step guidelines to care and maintain new homes, at a discounted rate for purchase. The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) is a 4,100-member, not-for-profit trade association affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Georgia and the National Association of Home Builders. The HBA is the second largest local homebuilders association in the nation and is dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving home ownership by maintaining the housing industry as a viable economic force in the Atlanta area. The official charity of the HBA is HomeAid Atlanta, a non-profit organization that builds and renovates temporary housing for metro Atlanta homeless men, women and children. login to post comments |
