Piedmont Healthcare, including Piedmont Hospital, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, and the 492-member Piedmont Clinic which includes the Piedmont Physicians Group, has signed an agreement with CIGNA HealthCare of Georgia to continue their participation in the CIGNA HealthCare provider network. The original agreement was to end in October. The agreement between the two organizations, which currently covers the health plan’s health maintenance organization (HMO), point-of-service (POS) and preferred provider organization (PPO) plans, is now anticipated to continue through at least December 2009. In addition, Piedmont Mountainside Hospital also participates in the CIGNA HealthCare provider network under a separate agreement. “We are extremely pleased with the three-year agreement and the opportunity to provide ongoing care for CIGNA HealthCare members,” said Gregory A. Hurst, executive vice president and COO of Piedmont Healthcare. “Piedmont enjoys a reputation for its quality services and advanced technology. For 100 years, Georgians have valued these attributes, and we appreciate that CIGNA HealthCare, a well-respected name in the health benefits industry, sought the same values for its members.” “CIGNA HealthCare is committed to providing its members with access to quality physicians and hospitals,” states Dieter Freer, president and general manager of CIGNA HealthCare of Georgia. “This extended agreement with Piedmont Healthcare allows CIGNA HealthCare to continue providing choice for our members.” login to post comments |
