Dorothy Cook Dean

Dorothy Cook Dean, 71, Eatonton, died July 11, 2006. She was born July 6, 1935 in Jackson County, daughter of Herman J. and Montine “Gee” Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ted Cook, and a sister, Hazel Cook Tate. She had married Fred Dean in 1958. After graduating from high school, she attended Berry College and completed undergraduate work at Georgia College, Milledgeville, where she received her teaching degree. She worked in Thompson and Lithonia schools for 30 years and retired from the Clayton County schools in 1997. She spent her retirement years living on Lake Sinclair, fishing and gardening. A memorial service was at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Pendergrass, Ga. Survivors include a brother, Bill Cook; a son, David Fredrick Dean, Brooks, Ga.; a daughter, Freddye Dean Carrera, McDonough; and grandchildren, Lea Dean, Andrew Dean, Parker Dean, Cole Carrera, and Kyle Carrera. Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, was in charge.
