You are a new homeowner without a clue; you may have had a beautiful yard in Ohio, but the gardening techniques you learned there didn’t prepare you for Georgia; your yard needs some serious attention, but you don’t know what to do or where to start.

Even experienced gardeners may be intimidated when they face the climate and soil of Georgia.

The Backyard Association is presenting a free seminar on Tuesday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds to help gardeners learn the basics of gardening in Georgia. Coweta County Master Gardeners Diane West-McHugh and Ray Prior will help those in attendance get past the gardening basics and get them motivated to fearlessly plan and plant for the future.

Gardeners can get the information they need before making costly landscaping mistakes. Save money on your water bill when you learn to water correctly, learn how to improve the health of your lawn just by fiddling with your existing lawnmower, pick a spot where that shrub will “thrive” not “dive” and learn how to choose the right fertilizer and prevent weeds.

Call the Coweta County Extension Office at 770-254-2620 to register for door prizes. The Backyard Association is sponsored by Coweta County Master Gardeners and provides gardening sessions for the public each month. Sessions last approximately one hour. Master Gardeners are available to help with gardening questions.
