Senoia cuts back on water

There’s no more weekend watering for Senoia residents.

Last week, the city Council voted to curtail residents use of outside water to help face a “near-crisis” with the city’s water tanks.

City Administrator Richard Ferry said the dry weather had caused the tanks storage to drop to low levels, and he said it would be prudent to adjust the outdoor watering schedule.

The new schedule allows residents with even number addresses to water on Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Residents with odd-number addresses are allowed to water Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Ferry said the city also purchases water from Coweta County and has drilled four wells recently in the city.

“But those probably won’t come online until next year,” he said.

The water restrictions will remain into effect through the year, unless the mild drought is broken.
