The long-standing tradition of the Main Street Pumpkin Walk continues tonight and tomorrow, October 28 and 29. Groups and schools are invited to line the Courthouse Square sidewalks with their decorated pumpkins by 4 p.m. tonight and the pumpkins should be lit both Friday and Saturday nights.

The group or school with the most pumpkins will receive cash prizes including $300 for first place, $150 for second and $75 for third. Individual pumpkins will also be judged and receive ribbons in the following categories: Best All Around, Most Creative, Funniest and Scariest.

In conjunction with the Pumpkin Walk, expanded festivities on Saturday include carnival games, a moonwalk, a climbing wall, face painting and live entertainment from noon until 7 p.m. at Stonewall Village. Proceeds from these events will benefit The Fayette Family YMCA, Fayette Youth Protection Homes, The Joseph Sams School and downtown revitalization.

From 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., children along with their families are invited to Trick-or-Treat on Main Street around the Courthouse Square to the various business vendors in the area who will have goodies for the kids. Main Street will provide complimentary “Trick or Treat” bags at the fountain in Stonewall Village. Oktoberfest food and music also will be available during this time. At 6 p.m., Main Street will host a costume contest at the fountain in Stonewall Village.

New this year is a 50-yard Tot Trot and 5K run/walk at the Villages Amphitheater which will run from 5 p.m. until approximately 7 p.m. Race and event sponsor information is available by calling Pam Young at the Fayette YMCA at 770-719-9622, Becky Davenport of the Fayette Youth Protection Home at 770-461-7020 or Lana Carr at The Joseph Sams School at 770-461-5894.
