Dan Lakly (R) 2006

In this, my final essay prior to the Republican Primary election, I would like you to know that I have cast hundreds of recorded votes on behalf of my constituents.

As your representative, I have given thoughtful consideration to every vote cast.

I have always considered the common-sense benefits to our district and state as well as the unintended consequences. I read the bills, study the issues, listen to the floor debate, and vote according to the facts using my conscience as my guide.
In the past, others have attempted to simplify the complex decisions I have made in executing my responsibilities as a member of the House. Some have even gone so far as to distort the facts of my service in a negative light with half-truths and paint me in a negative light.

I have never conducted a negative campaign and have no intention of doing so now. Therefore, please remember that some are willing to use deceitful means to get elected. Some have dared to make veiled threats against my family and me because I stood up for my constituents in Fayette County!

My conservative colleagues in the House know me and respect my experience and look forward to working with me in the future. Glenn Richardson, the first Republican Speaker of the Georgia House, has endorsed me; I did not ask him to do so!

The Georgia House leadership contributed more than $5,000 to my re-election campaign, and many of my other colleagues have likewise contributed to my re-election campaign. They do this because of my beliefs for lower taxation and basic conservative principles. Visit my Web site (www.mindspring.com/~dlakly) for the facts.

As always, I stand strong on the issues. I have stated in previous essays and in my campaign materials, the taxpayers of Georgia have overpaid more than $1 billion in taxes. I propose abolishing the automobile tag tax and reducing the state income tax by 50 percent so that you can keep more of your hard-earned money to grow and strengthen our economy.

I have been working with the House leadership and know that this is not only feasible, but also gaining substantial support among the Republican majority. Please help me to finish this important work as I strive to always put you, my constituents, first.

Please vote for me, Dan Lakly, on Tuesday, July 18, 2006.

In your service,

Dan Lakly
