Bill Bonner (R) - Candidate for Post 72, Ga. House of RepresentativesTue, 07/11/2006 - 4:34pm
By: Candidates Forum
My wife and I prayed hard about the decision to run for public office. We determined it was my time to step forward, much like a soldier steps into battle, except my fight is for our family values, better opportunities for students, more resources and better retirement for teachers, uninterrupted delivery of healthcare at an affordable price and no new taxes! Fighting for what is right is not new to me. I fought for our country in the U.S. Army and for the next eight years I fought to get a college degree at night school while working during the day and raising a family of four boys. I fought for the citizens of Fayette County while serving on the County Commission for eight years, having been re-elected in 1990 by the approval of the voters. I am currently fighting for the citizens of the state of Georgia as chairman of the Georgia Real Estate Commission to which I was appointed by the Governor in 2003. Yes, fighting for our citizens is something I enjoy doing and I will fight hard for you in the state House. Operating a successful small business for 22 years in this county, I have had to meet a payroll on a regular basis and I know what it takes to generate jobs and to deal with state agencies. We have provided jobs for Fayette citizens and invested back into the community. I am the first candidate in this race to sign a Taxpayer Protection Pledge with Americans for Tax Reform to oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes. Unashamed to be pro-family and pro-life, I will fight for the unborn and any infringement to our families. Marriage should be between one man and one woman. Representation in the state legislature is more than just casting votes. To do the job that our citizens require means being a leader, and that means taking the lead. Unlike my opponent, I intend to take a more proactive role on introducing meaningful legislation designed to benefit all Georgians. The first issue I will work on will be the abolishment of the state income tax. Our neighboring states, Tennessee and Florida, have no state income tax and there is no reason why we can’t do the same. It is time for a change. It is time for Bill Bonner. Proven leadership for uncertain times. login to post comments |
