The Atlanta Business Chronicle’s annual list of mortgage broker “Top Guns” in Georgia recently revealed Metro Brokers Financial (MBF), mortgage brokerage of Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate, as the number one residential mortgage broker in Georgia for the second consecutive year.

MBF blew away the competition. With 1,742 loans closed totaling $204 million, the company had 25 percent more transactions and 18.8 percent more volume than its closest challenger.

And the numbers were not close in comparison.
There was a $38.3 million difference between MBF and the second ranking company; a $126.3 million difference between MBF and the fifth ranking company; and a $180 million difference between MBF and the 20th ranking company.

However, the most staggering numbers were for purchase lending. MBF approved 1,584 loans totaling $178 million in volume for purchase lending and the company that ranked second on the list approved a mere 175 loans (nine times less than MBF) for $15 million because it’s primary focus was on refinances.

MBF believes the most revealing numbers lie within a company’s purchase lending production because these types of loans are what provide more transactions for sales associates and generate more business in the community.
When most of a company’s business comes from refinances, they’re simply focused on making a profit by recycling the existing business and not enhancing new sales activity.

MBF is dedicated to helping sales associates and builders grow their business as well as helping families realize their dream of home ownership.
In addition, MBF, which grew 13 percent from 2004 to 2005, was the only company in the top 10 who submitted statements of verification to support their figures.

Mortgage brokers have to be a member of the Georgia Association of Mortgage Brokers (GAMB) for the whole year the numbers are based on in order to qualify for the “Top Guns” list. The list is compiled annually by the GAMB for the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Book of Lists.
Judy Jones, Vice President of MBF, attributes MBF’s success to the growing number of Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate sales associates who continue to send their clients to MBF. Metro Brokers sales associates like to partner with MBF because of the mortgage programs, marketing tools, and service they receive from the experienced loan officers.

MBF’s “Lock and Shop” program allows buyers to lock in rates for up to 270 days as long as a property is found within 30 days or the buyer can relock. Plus, buyers are eligible for one free float down rate within 30 days of closing.
MBF also creates financial flyers to help Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate sales associates gain and market listings.
Some of the flyers target renters who can often own a home for $0 down and pay the same as they do for rent.

Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate, established in 1979, has 21 metro Atlanta offices and offers a wide range of real estate services including residential and commercial sales; pre- and post-license training; corporate relocation; new home sales and marketing; and insurance, mortgage and title/closing services.

The company is the largest GMAC Real Estate franchise in the world and the 38th largest real brokerage company in the country in terms of units sold. The company has more than tripled in size over the last five years with more than 2,500 licensees, making the company the largest license holder in the state of Georgia.
