Peachtree City resident Matt Stinchcomb, who is a former member of the University of Georgia Bulldog football team and the Tampa Bay Bucaneers, and his brother Jon, also a former Bulldog and current member of the New Orleans Saints, like to help out children. The brothers have a foundation that was created for this purpose but they also want to assist non-profit organizations that aid children in need. They also wanted to get to know some of the current players on their former team, so they teamed up with former teammates Charles Grant, David Greene and Jermaine Phillips, as well as some current members of the Georgia Bulldogs football team, and put together an event that will raise funds for several organizations. Countdown to Kickoff is a fan appreciation event that will take place Saturday, July 15 at the UGA practice fields in Athens. There will be autograph sessions with the former and current players, games, drills, face-painting, raffles, refreshments, an appearance from UGA and much more. There will also be a photographer snapping shots throughout the day and participants can view the pictures on-line after the event and download the photos if they choose to. The event will last from 3-6 p.m. and admission is $30 per person with children under the age of two being admitted for free. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the University of Georgia College of Education and the Georgia Transplant Foundation. |
