A Peachtree City woman and her friend apprehended a 14-year-old who tried to steal her golf cart from the AMLI apartments on Barberry Lane early Friday morning, police said.

The unidentified friend jumped over a fence to capture the suspect, who then ran away from the golf cart, police said. The suspect was held until police arrived, and officers later arrested a Tyrone teenager for also participating in the theft, police said.

Both the juvenile and Steven John Fowler, 18, of Senoia Road, Tyrone, was charged with theft, loitering and entering an auto, police said. Fowler fled from the area but was arrested at his home, police said.

Police were told that the woman and her friend were using the fitness room at the apartment complex when they saw the two suspects ride bikes into the complex. One of the suspects dropped off his bike at the entrance and approached the golf cart with a set of keys, police said. That’s when the golf cart owner and her friend left the building, each going to separate sides of the building.

The juvenile and Fowler are being investigated for similar incidents that occurred during the evening including golf cart thefts, bike thefts and entering auto cases.

Anyone with information on these or other similar incidents is asked to call police at 770-631-2510. Callers may remain anonymous.
