The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will sponsor two mission trips to Gulfport, Miss. in July to assist the Mississippi City United Methodist Church in its Katrina recovery efforts. One trip is planned for Sunday, July 9 through Friday, July 14, and the other from Sunday,July 16 through Friday, July 21. The cost per mission team member is $300 plus a $300 church rebuilding contribution. Scholarships are available. Eligibility for the trip is not restricted to FFUMC members and is open to the community. No special qualifications or experience is needed, only a willing spirit and desire to reach out to others. “The goal of this trip is to be a blessing to others as well as to be blessed by the short term mission experience,” a spokesperson said. “Mission work is an opportunity to awaken a fresh sense of God’s presence in our lives. We go both to give and to receive.” For more information, contact program director Laura Cox, 770-461-4313, or Len Gough, lay leader for missions, 770-460-7056. login to post comments |
