Chief Michael Isome announced this week the implementation of a community information line to assist citizens of Union City who wish to exchange ideas and information with the department.

Chief Isome noted that citizens often do not report “minor” nuisances or events either because they feel it is not a 911 emergency, or out of fear that they will be identified by calling the communications center.

The community information line also allows citizen groups, such as homeowners associations to inform the police department when they will have a meeting, so that an officer can be on hand to address any community concerns.

The community information line is another part of the ongoing effort to improve community outreach on the part of the Union City Police Department.

The line can be used by citizens wishing to leave confidential information on known or suspected criminal activity, to establish a Neighborhood Watch program, or to propose ways to increase community involvement on the part of the Police Department.

A member of the police department will review the messages, and response will be made within 24 hours.

The number to call is 770 306-3400 and a greeting will assist the caller in reaching out to the department.

If a citizen observes a crime in progress, or desires and officer respond to an incident in the city, they should of course call 911 or 770 964-1333.
