At long last, some traffic relief is coming to one of eastern Coweta County’s busiest roads.

County Public Information Officer Patricia Palmer confirmed the work to add two feet to each side of the road will begin in mid-July. Bridges will also be replaced on the road and the $6 million project is being funded by the county’s agreement with the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority.

Coweta County agreed to let XPress commuter buses run in the county in exchange for $13 million in intersection improvements.

Palmer said the project is expected to be finished in late 2007, and commuters can expect some delays while the work is progressing.

“We plan to update everybody in advance when delays are planned, so they can better plan their commute,” she said.
