Jack Smith 2006

Hello, I am Jack Smith, and I want to be your Fayette County Commissioner:

After 24 years of tireless “behind the scenes” volunteering and being a servant leader, I am offering my experience and expertise to the voters of Fayette County. As a CPA, my “hands on” training in governmental auditing and operations, coupled with a professional education in management, finance, accounting and budgeting, gives me insight and knowledge to help govern this county. Since 1982, my wife and I have reared and educated our children here; and I would like an opportunity to ensure Fayette County has an affordable quality of life so we can retire here.

I am a father, a husband and a successful businessman and offer the following achievements as evidence that I am the most qualified to serve the office I am seeking:

Volunteer and leader in the early 1980s for the McIntosh Opry, (predecessor to The Fred).

Peachtree City Optimist Club past president, secretary, treasurer, Optimist of the Year and a life member in Optimist International.

Treasurer of Peachtree City United Methodist Church for nearly 10 years.

Numerous positions in scouting spanning two sons and nearly 15 years including multiple years as chairman of the District Committee and a stint on the Flint River Council Board of Directors.

Fayetteville Rotary Club past president, secretary, treasurer and Rotarian of the Year. Charter member of Providence United Methodist Church with multiple years as board chairman.

Six years as treasurer of the Joseph Sams School (a nonprofit school for physically- and mentally-challenged children).

Fayette County Development Authority treasurer for over 10 years and champion for balanced growth of the type desired by our community.

Past president of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the Chet Wells Service Award.

Trustee of Griffin Technical College Foundation

Visionary who received the Southern Crescent Vision Award from Clayton College and State University for unwavering efforts working on behalf of Fayette County citizens.

But most of all, I am a human, just like you, who truly cares and wants the best for our community. I want to be a good steward and leave what is entrusted to us no worse than we found it and, with your help, maybe a little bit better.

I need your investment with me in the future of Fayette County. I need your favorable consideration and vote for me and common-sense government.
