Fayette County High School will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Marching Tigers band with a special alumni ceremony Sept. 8 during the football game against Jonesboro High School. Band alumni are invited to participate in the event, which includes a performance at halftime, a meal, admission to the game and a T-shirt. The cost is $25. Applications and other information is available at www.fchsband.org. This year’s band is raising money to fund its trip to perform in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., the precursor to the Rose Bowl football game. The band is also celebrating the impending retirement of long-time director Kenny Beard, who has spent 16 years at FCHS.
