While much of the public discussion has evolved around a few issues, the council will vote on hundreds of specific items annually that have not been discussed leading to the election. Each voter is left to forecast how the candidate will handle many issues that may be unrecognized today. I have consistently given the voter the larger picture of who I am and the approach I will take to each issue, in addition to addressing specific topics at www.gibbs4ptc.com.

While I am open to a mutually beneficial annexation, I believe the solution must be larger than any individual project and must account for both short and long-term costs. The resolution of litigation issues surrounding the PCDA is not only to compensate parties for investment in PTC, but more importantly to return the PCDA to the mission of economic development, which will return to our community much more than the cost of litigation or compromise.

Stabilizing the tax investment required by our citizens is a priority, but it is just as important for us to prioritize and leverage those dollars as they are collected, and we must recognize that significant reductions are unlikely without reductions in services. A partnership must exist between business and our citizens in order to be successful as a community. Relationships must develop that become the basis for understanding, not only to become informed of all sides of the issues, but more importantly to find the common ground that will become the foundation of success.

The vision of Peachtree City is larger than just maintaining what we have, or trying to return to something we may have had in the past. Focusing on the past requires no vision and results in becoming ordinary. We must embrace the future through planning and excellence in implementation. If your vision is a balanced mix of priorities and opportunities requiring exemplary planning and cooperation, it can only be achieved by electing leaders with proven skills and the discipline to reach difficult goals. I am asking for your vote to bring my experience as a negotiator, counselor at law, and businessman to the council so we may build bridges to an extraordinary future.

Thank you for your consideration.
