The Rev. Jim Lindskoog recently accepted a call as full time minister at Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fayetteville. Church members first came to know Lindskoog as guest minister, then as a part-time minister for the church. “Rev. Lindskoog and his wife, Ottis, have come to us with a willingness to take up the challenges and we have welcomed them into our church family with great joy and anticipation,” a church spokesperson said. “We have read Jim’s resume’ and know he is highly qualified to inspire and lead our congregation.” Lindskoog grew up attending churches of various denominations but chose seminary training at Chicago Theological Seminary (University of Chicago) which is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. He was ordained into the Ministry of Reconciliation by that denomination. The main focus of this ministry was to improve race relations and religious tolerance. While in seminary he was assigned an internship in the City of Atlanta, working in the area of race relations. He worked under the direction of the mayor’s office and was sent out into the community to find non-violent solutions to tension-filled community problems. It was during this time Lindskoog met the Rev. Will Campbell, who became a friend and mentor and inspired him in his work as a minister. Mrs. Lindskoog comes from a strong background in the United Methodist Church but says she has now found a home in the Disciples tradition. The Lindskoogs say they were both attracted to the tolerance and diversity that are characteristic of the Disciples tradition. Community Christian is at 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville.
