Katie Leigh Bowman of Fayetteville, daughter of William Russell Bowman and the late Dana Bowman, and Brooks Patton Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Michael Ray of Cornelia, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bowman of Fayetteville and Mr. and Mrs. Ramon Sammons, also of Fayetteville. A 2003 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School, she attends North Georgia College and State University where she will receive a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Spanish in early fall.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Aileen Ray and the late Earl Ray of Clarkesville, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Taylor of Tiger. He is a 1995 graduate of Habersham County High School. He received an associate’s degree in education from Young Harris College and a bachelor’s degree in physical education from North Georgia College and State University. He currently is employed by the Habersham County School System as a teacher, head soccer coach and assistant football coach.

The wedding will be in late July, 2006. After a honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Habersham County.
