Community help sought for upcoming Katrina mission trip

The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will sponsor a mission trip to Gulfport, Miss. July 16 to assist the Mississippi City United Methodist Church in its Katrina recovery efforts. The mission group will return to Fayetteville Friday evening, July 21.

Eligibility for the trip is not restricted to FFUMC members and is open to the community.

The cost per mission team member is $300 plus a $300 church rebuilding contribution. Scholarships are available.No special qualifications or experience is needed.

“The goal of this trip is to be a blessing to others as well as to be blessed by the short term mission experience,” a spokesperson said. “Mission work is an opportunity to awaken a fresh sense of God’s presence in our lives. We go both to give and to receive.”
